The Bake House is a family owned business that is devoted to its founder Mr. Dayananda Weeraratne’s vision and promise of serving amazing food and exceptional service to all who come through its doors. Since the establishment of our maiden café which then expanded to a restaurant chain and outlets within the Kandy city, we humbly served our purpose across 50 years. We are gratefully delighted that both local and international customers have joined in our culinary history that is unfolding each day.

How We Started ?
How We Started ? The Bake house was Inaugurated in 1970 on the 7th of August, by our founder Mr. Dayananda Weeraratne. The Bake house has the distinction of being the first bakery in Kandy, and started out by selling small bakery items and cakes, then graduated into a small cafe. We have served well over a million satisfied customers over the years, and today have the pleasure of being associated with great food and an ever widening customer portfolio. Not satisfied with being just a small café we have now expanded into several establishments throughout the city and now have 4 main restaurants in addition to 5 outlets within Kandy city.
Nestled in the regal city of Kandy, The Bake House first opened doors to its customers on the 7th of August in 1970. Our visionary founder and mentor Mr. Dayananda Weeraratne set out on a course that day, to change the Sri Lankan culinary landscape with only the support of 15 staff members.
The Bake House takes pride in being the maiden bakery in Kandy. Our humble beginnings entailed from selling bakery items and cakes in a small café,s to expanding the unique culinary experience via 4 main restaurants and 5 outlets within the city boundaries.
Over the last 50 years, we were true to our service and vision. We have served millions of both local and international customers who are loyal to our name. We are and will continue to leave our legacy behind for generations to come.
